Commercial car insurance in Mexico covers you if you use your vehicle for commercial purposes. Commercial vehicles carry higher risks and require specific coverages. Below are the different types of vehicle usage:
Types of usage:
"Uso Particular" (Private Use): This is for transporting people without commercial purposes. It applies exclusively to vehicles up to 3.5 tons in capacity.
"Uso Comercial" (Commercial Use): This is for transporting people or cargo for commercial or profit-making purposes, or for providing public, private, or emergency security services. Commercial use is determined based on what is indicated on the registration card. It applies to any tonnage.
The commercial use of the vehicle must be specified in the policy’s cover page. Examples of commercial use include: driving school, private chauffeur, tow truck, courier or delivery, private or public security, ambulances, taxis, school and/or employee transport, valuables transport.
Example:
If you use your vehicle for deliveries and have an accident, but your policy is registered as private use, the insurer would deny the coverage.
Recommendation:
Ensure that the declared usage matches the actual use of the vehicle to avoid problems in case of a claim.
At Sáas, we have a team of consultants who can guide you through the process of contracting and using your policy.
